Today, we had a great last day working with kids in schools with an organization called PEDN. It's really wonderful seeing the glow on these kids faces and even by doing the silliest things that you yourself find embarrassing, you could tell it made them smile and more happy. When we arrive at the school we always meet with the headmaster and he or she welcomes us to the school. I find it fascinating that at every school we go to, a couple things always happen. The first thing I've noticed is the head master keeps repeating this one phrase. "You're welcome, you're welcome, you're welcome." Another thing I noticed that I found a little stange is that they always have and have us sign guest books. In the United States it's not that custom to have guest books unless some hotels or resturants have them. It was very eye opening knowing that they toke pride in us being there and wanted to keep record of it. When our group was with the kids it was a very great feeling no matter how tired you were to see how happy the kids were for us to be there. We would always play games with them, and even though we would mostly play the same games because we would be switching to different schools, It was still a fun experiance. After we worked in the morning at a school, had lunch and worked the afternoon at a school we went to the uganda martyr memorial, which was a very cool experiance. The building was so unique and the outside and inside made my jaw drop with amazment. Not only was the building amazing but the whole story of it was too. We are having alot of fun in Uganda so far and we are getting ready for rafting down the nile tommorow.
